> They only make sense if you want to wall off NYC from the > rest of the world and make NYC a provincial outpost,If I am > not mistaken, his views are to erect physical or economic > barriers to NYC, that is unethical, immoral and simply > against the law, can't be done. I was resolved really not to answer you, but I think some frank answers to you response is in order for the public record. First, you should be made aware that the reason why Newark has developed in the fashion it has is due to the attitude that suburban New Jersians have had for that city in terms of contempt for it's peoples and facilities. New York, to this point, has had a more enlightened attitude towards it's major city. And this is why New York still shines as an urban center, and Newark, Elizabeth, Jersey City, and Union are having troubles. In addition, NYC is more than an facility for peoples suburban use, like a trash compactor. It is home for 7.5 million residents. It is our home. Being that it is our home, we have every legal right to restrict vehicular traffic, or even restrict it to residents if this resource becomes scarce ,as it is. We let you drive into town as a favor. As a point of fact, we are more gracious in this regard than much of NJ. No one is telling you you can't come to the city. We're just telling you, you can't bring your car. > The city has many options that haven't even been broached > yet, how about stopping deliveries to businesses during the > day? that would eliminate the majority of illegally parked > and double parked vehicles. > Stopping deliveries in Manhattan during the day might seem like a fine idea for a suburban automobile commuter, but it is impossible for business. Small stores can not be open at 3 in the morning to take a delivery for your convince. We need the trucks in Manhattan. What we don't need is the overwhelmingly more pressing issue of passenger car traffic. As for double parked cars, this is a function of lack of space. No one double parks because they enjoy it. It's a function of a lack of parking. Giving out more tickets does not solve the problem. Giving out no tickets would exasperate it. But ticketing does not solve the problem. > >>hahaha then NYC could become a bigger Newark NJ See the paragraph above. > Your provincial bias is showing again, I think that you > should realize that there is a vast world outside of NYC and > they don't revolve around NYC either. So work in Newark. It's not a problem for me. > > Who says that I hate anything? You do. > > >your standard of living in NJ possible. These residents of CT and NJ > >that do nothing but scoff at NYC are idiots if they think those areas > >would exist in the form they do now without NYC and the benefits it > >brings to the region. > > Pure nonsense, millions of people in this region never step > foot in Manhattan and they all manage to survive! Never the less, the regions prosperity is derived from the flow of goods and services through NYC. There would be no NJ industries if NJ was located closer to Montana than NYC. Duh... should we give you now a lesson in macro economics and the multiplier effect. > >>who care what you think, Well, the Mayor did when I voted for him, as did the Governor. Since I live in NYC, actually, my voice carries more weight than your on a day to day basis. >I really don't like when people of > >>your ilk decide to slime their way down to the shore, Who did you say you don't hate? BTW - nobody I know in Brooklyn goes to the shore in Jersey. Well, I take that back. My Grandmother goes to Atlantic Ave from time to time to gamble. Is this the slim you had in mind. BTW - she takes the bus down there. >>but we > >>don't erect barricades to keep people away. To the contrary, of course you do. There are all kinds of for residents only beaches in Jersey, and parking in Jersey city is basically illegal. >>It is called > >>freedom of movement and it is a right to all of us. The driver of an automobile has no rights. You can only operate the vehicle in strict accordance with the law. Ruben http://www.brooklynonline.com

Re: the article on suspected Hamas Terrorists inPark Slope. The NYPD Emergency Service Vehicle you have pictured is NOT the "A-Team" vehicle as you have stated. It is classified as a Radio Emergency Patrol vehicle and is used by ESU to assist the members of the NYPD in their daily functions. If the NYPD had an "A-Team", and the team had a vehicle, It would certainly not be of the pictured configuration. Also, there was no "A-Team" on that scene that night. These were just the brave men and women of ESU who patrol the streets every day in NYC.

Your point on the A team is well taken. Of course, if the NYPD and ESU units wouldn't have said it this way when we spoke to them on the sceen that nite, it would not have been published that way. Ruben

I think that the women and basic community of Park Slope and all areas of New York City would appreciate some valuable information perhaps concerning the rapist on the Smith and 9th Street subway. Or is this not appropriate news????? What sort of a news section is this? Wouldn't it be better for the women using the subway and for that matter walking the streets as we should have the freedom do in a civilized society. So please do the Brooklyn folk a favor and report some news which is beneficial to us like the possibility of being dragged off the subway train, raped and sodomoised on the platform of the trains whilst people ignore the unpleasantness for fear of being late for dinner!! What happened to community spirit??? What happened to community information? Surely to be forwarned may help us to be forarmed!!! So please provide with inforation, and don't leave it too late!!!!!

To the citizens of Brooklyn Heights BEWARE. The Willow Place sub station is about to go on line... Don't be fooled, I work for transit and can tell you the real deal with the sub station. The fire on 7-15-00 is only the tip of the iceberg. This thing is the biggest wast of transit funds due to the fact that none of the cables and track side equiptment have been upgraded. Thats right the cables from the sub station are circa 1906 and the track side equiptment that feeds the THIRD RAIL(like the one that burned) are circa 1891. It is not a question of will it fail but when will it fail. This equiptment is located in the emergency stariwell. So when it fails trapped passengers will perish due to the fact the fire is in the emergency stariwell. If anyone wants more info please e-mail me at joseph_patrick_1@yahoo.com
